The main image of the magazine is a young girl around 13,
and her body language is tilted towards the camera which is showing it is quite
informal and aimed at a set audience. A mid shot shows half of the girl in
uniform which simply draws attention to the fact she is in uniform.
Coverlines
Coverlines are used a lot on this magazine to grab vast
attention to the teenage reader. The colour of the fonts is pastel/ neutral
colours which presents a sense of calmness and the colours are bold again
helping to draw attention to the page.
‘First day jitters’ is in a deep purple and obviously the
designer of the magazine has wanted this to stand out since no other of the cover
lines are in this colour. The word ‘JITTERS’ is in capital letters and a sans serif font type which is suitable
for a magazine. ‘First day jitters’ is
also to be perceived as the main coverline. It is very large and has two layers
it promotes the use of someones first day at school which will appeal to many
new people starting the school and how to overcome their nerves making the
magazine detailed to information.
Left Third
The left third of the magazine cover is vital for sales in
shops where the magazine is not shown full frontage.
Selling Line
‘An
edition to the NXXXXXXXXXXX’ I like the idea of the colour contrasting and how the white background makes it feel very professional, not a lot of school magazines will have a white background resulting to this one being unique. Usually school magazines will have an image of their chosen location(inside the school) or something representing or relating to the school. The coverlines clearly illustrate what will be inside the magazine, e.g. Quiz, tips etc making it appeal but not give away to much information therefore making it attractive.

Good you have deconstructed using real magazine terms. Make sure the rest of your research is blogged as soon as possible please.
