Throughout my media coursework, I have learnt so much to do with different technologies how they work and what's out there.
iMac
I wasn't very familiar with an iMac and it was great to get the chance to use and explore on one. I used pages a lot in researching and drafting different artists, theories etc, it became extremely useful as I could gather information quickly and clearly. I used a editing program called Pixlr to edit my photos on the iMac, the graphic design was extremely good, I could edit quickly and publish to my blog. I learnt so much when using safari also and keynote.
iPhone4/iPad
As I have an iPhone 4 it was familiar to me. One new thing I did learn was changing my camera settings. I used a 'Grid' setting on my iPhone so I could take pictures precisely and use the rule of thirds theory. This was really useful as then I could position my model accurately to fit the design of my page. I used my friends iPad to take some photos as well. My original idea for my double page spread was my model blowing glitter into the camera, in my head it looked effective but when I did take it on the iPhone and iPad it did not work as 1. you could not see the glitter 2. the timing was wrong. In order to do this really effectively I discovered that you need to use a good camera with a high percentage of megapixels, just like a canon one.
Olympus VR370
I love my Olympus camera, its small but really handy to have and very compact. I used this to take some photos of possible locations as it had a 16.0 megapixel and 5x optical zoom. Its a great little camera to have and I learned how to use some different effects on there e.g. Sepia, Black and white
Pixlr
Pixlr was completely and utterly new to me. I haven't really used many editing programs before apart from aviary on the iPhone which you purchase as an app, and Photoshop. Pixlr was actually outstandingly good, thanks for showing us Mr.H! At first it was complicated to use since I entered the advanced program which there was a lot of fiddling about to do in order to achieve the image I wanted. I then switched and used the efficient edition which I could just upload my picture to from my documents and start editing straight away! I loved it. You could have different options such as using an adjustment tool lead you to a series of editing. I was worried how to get rid of red eye on my image as I thought it would be complicated to use, but it was actually really simple. The thing I liked the most on Pixlr is the ability to change the vibrancy and contrast of the image. This made the image exceptionally professional. One of the best things on Pixlr is changing the effects of the image, I loved playing around with this. In the end, I didn't chose to actually play around with the effects as I think it made it look over edited and unprofessional. Finally the thing I was most impressed with, was being able to liquefy the image! It made it look so unique and like an optical illusion.
Windows Movie Maker
Since I was using a HP pavilion g series laptop at home, I had access to windows movie maker where I could make videos for my evaluation. I hadn't used this program before and thought I wanted to expand my knowledge on how to make videos since I was clueless! the program was actually structured in a really clear way for people to use. It kind of reminded me of PowerPoint with all the slides. You could add text, images and sound to any slide and use transitions to your slides easily. I've made 2 videos in my evaluation using this program.
YouTube
Throughout my blog, I am sure of noticed the amount of YouTube videos i have used! I am very familiar to YouTube and would say I cant live without it! I think it enables you to expand your knowledge on all different types of music, reviews etc. I wanted to use YouTube to provide a range of different artists you could listen to and feel my passion for this genre of music.
1001freefonts.com
When coming to conclusion what font I wanted to use, I searched on my search engine Google Chrome, to find out some of the best free fonts. I found some really great fonts on this website which I saved as an image. The thing I found hard was trying to change the colour of the font since they were all in black!
Microsoft PowerPoint
I love using Microsoft PowerPoint (2010 Edition) as I've used it so many times I know many tips and tricks of using it. I used PowerPoint a lot for evaluating and analysing different music magazines and for my questionnaire analysis.
Slide share
I was completely new to slide share, but I had seen it before. Slide share was really accessible and easy to use surprisingly! I created an account which then I uploaded my PowerPoint and within 30 seconds it had been converted, it was quick and the advantage to it is that you can browse other slide shares from other users.
iTunes
In order to establish what genre I was going to chose for my music magazine, iTunes was really helpful. It gave me inspiration to do the electro/dance genre since I was listening to DaftPunk at the time.
Blogger
Blogger was one of the most significant programs in creating my music magazine! Having to research and plan was a big part of my product which I could then blog, I have learnt so much about Blogger as well, since at the start I was clueless. Blogger enables you to share create and communicate!
Hotmail
Hotmail was so important in this task. From home to school I emailed a numerous amount of pictures, documents and links to school. Without it I think everybody would be stuck!
Technology is our future, it is incredible to see how it has evolved over many years, we are so lucky to have some of the best technology in the world and without it there would be no communication, education or knowledge about anything.
